TALLAHASSEE, Fla. Terri Schiavo's (SHY'-vohz) mother is again pleading with Florida state lawmakers to save her brain-damaged daughter's life. But Republican Senator Dan Webster, who has led state Senate efforts to keep Schiavo alive, says he has yet to convince a single lawmaker to change their vote on the issue.
At least 22 of the 40 state senators have taken a stand against the legislation. However, Webster says four or five of them have come to him privately to say they might reconsider. He would need three colleagues to change their minds to pass the legislation.
At least five of the nine Senate Republicans standing against the measure say they have no plans to reverse their position.
The Senate could take the bill up as early as Wednesday.
