TNIV & SISTERS

TNIV & SISTERS
Terry Watkins Dial-the-Truth Ministries

. . .thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters
in all thine abominations which thou hast done.
Ezekiel 16:51

The NIV (and nearly all the other versions) replaced the gender-inclusive "brethren" with the male-only "brothers". The gender-inclusive, TNIV just couldn’t allow that male-only "brothers". That wouldn’t please N.O.W. [National Organization for Women] or Virginia Mollenkott.

What could they do? The NIV and sisters, replaced the gender-inclusive "brethren" with the male-chauvinist "brothers" – so how could they get out of this pickle?

Simple. . . The TNIV mis-translators reached back into that "magic no Greek text translation hat" and pulled out another rabbit – a female rabbit named "sisters".

So with over 110 "magic translation" tricks, the TNIV reads "brothers and sisters" – where there ain’t no "sister’. And there ain’t no Greek manuscript in the universe to justify the addition of the word "sisters".

Some "magic" examples:

Notice, the first three verses are MIS quotes of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Matthew 25:40, KJB
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Matthew 25:40, TNIV
"The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Luke 14:12, KJB
Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompense be made thee.

Luke 14:12, TNIV
Then Jesus said to his host, "When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid.

Luke 21:16, KJB
And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.

Luke 21:16, TNIV
You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, sisters, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death.

Acts 1:16, KJB
Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

Acts 1:16, TNIV
and said, "Brothers and sisters, long ago the Holy Spirit spoke through the mouth of David concerning Judas, who served as guide for those who arrested Jesus, and that Scripture had to be fulfilled.

Acts 2:29, KJB
Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

Acts 2:29, TNIV
"Brothers and sisters, we all know that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day.

Romans 8:29, KJB
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Romans 8:29, TNIV
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

1 Corinthians 7:29, KJB
But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;

1 Corinthians 7:29, TNIV
What I mean, brothers and sisters, is that the time is short. From now on those who have a husband or wife should live as if they did not;

In 1 Corinthians 7:29, the TNIV has to also add "husband" after adding "sisters". It reminds me of the old adage; telling one lie leads to another lie to cover up the first lie. One deliberate mis translation leads to another mis translation to cover up the error of the first mis translation.

WOMEN PREACHERS AND CHURCH LEADERS. . .

The TNIV distorts the scriptures to "magically" appear women preachers and church leaders. The radical feminists, and lesbians have wished for this "twisted sister" version for many years. Well, ladies [oops. . . excuse me. . . humans] Merry Christmas – the TNIV elves have granted your wish.

In Acts 6:3, the TNIV includes "sisters", among the church leaders, in the choosing of Stephen. I’m sure Senator Hillary and the feminists love this one.

Acts 6:3, KJB
Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

Acts 6:3, TNIV
Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them

In 1 Corinthians 1:26, the TNIV adds "sisters" to the preachers calling.

1 Corinthians 1:26, KJB
For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

1 Corinthians 1:26, TNIV
Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.

In Corinthians 14:26-27, the TNIV includes "sisters" in the speaking of tongues, preaching [doctrine], revelations, etc. Notice, also in verse 27, to further add to their deceitful mess, they change "any man" to "anyone".

1 Corinthians 14:26-27, KJB
26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.

1 Corinthians 14:26-27, TNIV
26 What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.
27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two—or at the most three—should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret.

The same type of false-doctrine, mis translation and adding to the Greek text is found in 1 Corinthians 14:39. Man is neutered, and sisters are added. Completely defiant to the masculine, singular Greek text.

1 Corinthians 14:37-39, KJB
37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

1 Corinthians 14:37-39, TNIV
37 If any think they are prophets or otherwise gifted by the Spirit, let them acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord’s command.
38 Those who ignore this will themselves be ignored.
39 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues.

The context and subject matter of Philippians 1:14-18, is preachers. And the TNIV add "sisters" to include women preachers. Again, this is clearly adding to the Greek text and promoting a false doctrine.

Philippians 1:14-18, KJB
14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

Philippians 1:14-18, TNIV
14 And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.
15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill.
16 The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.
17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains.
18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.

1 Thessalonians 5:12-14, is referring to pastors / preachers. Verse 12 says, "are OVER YOU in the Lord, and admonish you. . ." Verse 14 are clearly the instructions to a pastor, "warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men" .Again, the "gender-inclusive" TNIV includes "sisters", promoting women preachers. Notice, the "among you" which includes the "sisters".

1 Thessalonians 5:12-14, KJB
12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

1 Thessalonians 5:12-14, TNIV
12 Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you.
13 Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.
14 And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

1 Peter 4:10-11, is clearly instructions for the preacher ". . .let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister,. . ." The TNIV, again (and again and again) changes the third person, singular masculine [him] to second, person neuter [you].

1 Peter 4:10-11, KJB
10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 4:10-11, TNIV
10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
11 If you speak, you should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If you serve, you should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

2 Timothy 3:17, is incorrectly changed from "man of God" to "all God’s people". The Greek text is singular, masculine. Verse 4:1 "preach the word" is also instructions to the "man of God" found in verse 3:17.

2 Timothy 3:16-4:2, KJB
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

2 Timothy 3:16-4:2, TNIV
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
17 so that all God’s people may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
4:1 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge:
2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.

Romans 13:3-7, again, changes the Greek, singular, masculine to plural, neuter.

Romans 13:3-7, KJB
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

Romans 13:3-7, TNIV
3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended.
4 For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.
5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.
6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing.
7 Give to everyone what you owe: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

Galatians 3:5 is completely re-worded to remove the singular, masculine references to the minister.

Galatians 3:5, KJB
He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Galatians 3:5, TNIV
Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by your observing the law, or by your believing what you heard?

In Acts 20, Paul is addressing the "elders" and "overseers. . . of the flock" at the church in Ephesus.

Verse 17 Paul calls for "the elders of the church".
Verse 28, Paul refers to them as "Holy Ghost hath made you overseers [of the flock], to feed the church of God "
Verse 30, Paul warns among "your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them".

Without a doubt, the audience Paul is addressing at Ephesus are the elders, overseers, pastors and preachers. And verse 30 reads, "Also of your own selves shall MEN arise. . ."

Acts 20:17, 27-30, KJB:
17 And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.
27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

It’s very important to note, that the Greek word for "men" [verse 30] is the "man-only" Greek word "aner". The Greek word "aner" is NEVER used in a generic "male-female" audience. The TNIV purposely mis-translates the Greek word "aner" as "some" to include women elders and overseers. For more info on the Greek word "aner" see our section on "man".

Acts 20:17, 27-30, TNIV
17 From Miletus, Paul sent to Ephesus for the elders of the church.
27 For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God.
28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.
29 I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.
30 Even from your own number some will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.

The TNIV’s corrupt handling of Acts 20, is beyond any bounds of honest interpretation or translation. It is deliberately distorting the God-breathed Greek text to promote and teach a false doctrine, in this case, women pastors and elders.

The following is several other verses that change the Greek text to misleadingly encourage women preachers

2 Corinthians 11:4, KJB
For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

2 Corinthians 11:4, TNIV
For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.

Galatians 1:9, KJB
As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Galatians 1:9, TNIV
As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let that person be under God’s curse!

Why saidst thou, She is my sister?. . .
Genesis 12:19
